About Us

Our Green difference

Our first-hand experience with compost has highlighted multiple benefits that green waste can offer for individuals, organisations and the wider community, by making relatively simple changes.

Green Solutions Wide Bay uses cutting edge technology with industry best practices to ensure a smoother process and “greener” end result.

At our site, we accept GREEN WASTE ONLY (at no charge).  Items that fall under that category include garden trimmings, lawn clippings, and tree trunks and branches. While composting creates value from green waste, when illegally dumped into natural areas they can wreak havoc on ecosystems and require expensive cleanup efforts.

Our facility offers a convenient opportunity for Wide Bay residents to drop off their green waste at no cost.  Creating green waste compost contributes to making natural enhancers that restore lost nutrients to the soil, helps the soil to retain water, and makes it less vulnerable to erosion.

The compost products created at our facility comply with the Australian Standard for Soil Conditioners and Mulches AS4454.

Our history

Greensill Farming has established a strong reputation for being major producers of sweet potatoes, sugar cane, peanuts and a range of broadacre crops for both Australian and global markets.  Located in Bundaberg, the base of the Southern Great Barrier Reef, protecting and improving the environment is a leading focus of Greensill Farming operations.

The act of composting green waste materials and returning it to the ground enhances and protects air, soil and water quality. This has benefits not only for our organisation but for all stakeholders including our local council and regional neighbours.

Green Solutions Wide Bay has been established to expand the composting program for Greensill Farming, while involving and educating as many people as possible of the benefits of composting green waste.

By giving the public access to convenient green waste disposal at no charge, we hope to reduce instances of illegal dumping and prevent the spread of problematic weeds. Other key benefits include:

  • Boosting the carbon content of soil
  • Decreasing or eliminating nutrient runoff
  • Creating biological diversity within the soil
  • Using water more efficiently
  • Providing a safe and effective alternative to chemical fertilisers
